About Us
Tim Wright
Born into a family of professional string musicians, Tim has always been fascinated by violins. From an early age, going through his violinist mother’s collection of instruments and bows was always preferable to practice! This interest continued during his studies at the Royal College of Music and his professional career as a violinist with the London Chamber Orchestra and other orchestras around the UK.
At the same time Tim worked in various auction houses specialising in the sale of fine musical instruments; his passion for these eventually led him to set up his own dealership in 2015. Since then he has been proud to have helped clients not only from Edinburgh, where he is based, but from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia as well.
In close to a decade of working in the violin trade, Tim reckons he has seen and played close to 50,000 instruments and bows. His customers benefit from this experience, together with his musician’s ear and a genuine desire to help find instruments that both offer superior tonal quality and represent a solid investment.
Nicholas Rose
A keen amateur cellist, Nicholas has long been fascinated by fine stringed instruments.
During a thirty-year career in investment management, he has specialised in low-risk investments delivering steady returns over time. Given his passion for music, fine instruments were an obvious choice.
As a result he has been involved with the violin trade for many years, during which he has advised on and arranged numerous purchases of investment instruments. Most of these were subsequently loaned out to musicians.
Nicholas divides his time between his native Britain and his adopted home of Germany. He is happy to advise clients in several European languages as well as Japanese.
