Buying Agent - how it works
First, you tell us what what sort of instrument you are looking for and what features - such as sound, playability, condition, appreciation potential - it should possess. Your budget and timeframe will also be important factors. If you are unsure about what you want, we will of course be only too happy to give impartial guidance. If after talking to you we feel unable to help, we will say so.
Once your requirements have been established, you appoint us as your buying agent. In other words we will scour the market on your behalf to find suitable instruments. This can include specialist auctions if that is what you have instructed. Rose Wright Geigen has many years of experience in the violin world and our extensive network of private owners, dealers and other sources is likely to uncover a greater choice of instruments than you could on your own. Your identity will not be revealed to potential sellers, so discretion is assured.
We will alert you when we see something we believe meets your criteria and we are satisfied that there are no undisclosed issues with condition or authenticity. You will naturally have the chance to examine the instrument and take it away for a period to try it out yourself, without obligation. If you wish to proceed with the purchase we will negotiate with the seller on your behalf.
Our loyalty is clear: Rose Wright Geigen has no stock of its own to promote so we act purely for you, the buyer, at all times.
We will only take a fee if you are successful in purchasing through us.

Our Auction Service
Buying at specialist auctions can be an excellent way to acquire an instrument at an attractive price. However you need to know what you are doing and there is usually only limited time in which to act. If you are unable or unwilling to attend auction previews or the auctions themselves, we will gladly do so on your behalf, as well as keeping an eye on auction offerings generally and advising you of instruments that match your requirements.
Our fees
We charge you a commission on the purchase price of any instrument you obtain through us. No fee is payable if you are unsuccessful. Due to the time-intensive nature of our business and the individual care we give to each of our clients, our services are best suited for instruments valued at €50,000 or more.
Rose Wright Geigen does not accept any hidden commissions or other inducements when dealing with sellers so you can be sure of obtaining the best price we are able to negotiate for you.
